Tuesday’s 28 arrests already ran. Monday’s 16 charged already ran. This is Wednesday’s unused sentence.
Department of Justice, Office of Public Affairs, Wednesday Oct. 14: Sasa Micev, 43, a citizen of Bosnia, an international arms dealer, was sentenced to 60 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to violating the International Emergency Economic Powers Act and the North Korean Sanctions Regulations. District of New Mexico. 60 months is a sentence after a plea. It is not Tuesday’s unused 28 arrested. It is not Monday’s unused 16 charged. It is not Friday’s unused Ramirez 62 months.
Same release / court documents: Micev worked with a co-conspirator based in New Mexico and others to broker the purchase of SA-18 Igla portable surface-to-air missiles — Man Portable Air Defense Systems — from North Korea without the required license from Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control. In 2020, on multiple occasions, they discussed acquiring the Iglas; Micev provided pricing, took part in efforts to obtain the items through falsified documentation, and tried to procure the weapons despite knowing the transactions were prohibited. Late 2020, Micev and the co-conspirator traveled to Ankara, Turkey, to meet and complete the sale. After a price dispute with the North Koreans, the sale fell through. A trip to Ankara is not missiles in a U.S. warehouse. We will not invent a delivery.
HSI El Paso Acting Special Agent in Charge Ryan G. McRae / First Assistant U.S. Attorney Ryan Ellison: those who try to evade export controls and sanctions to traffic military weapons, they said, face consequences. HSI Albuquerque and Phoenix investigated. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Tavo Hall and Holland Kastrin are prosecuting, with Maria Fedor of the National Security Division. Tuesday already filed unused Joint Disruption Week — 28 arrested, not convicted. Monday already filed unused 16 charged in election cases. Sunday’s unused Beltre 48 months already ran. We will not reprint Meadows, Ramirez, Barron, Iley, or Loftis. We will not invent missiles that moved.
What this means for you
If you needed Tuesday’s unused crime, it still stands as 28 arrested, not convicted. If you needed this noon’s unused file, it is Micev, 60 months, Iglas not sold. If you needed a delivery, this page does not hand it over.
Bottom line: 60 months. Igla deal fell through. Not 28 reprinted. Not missiles delivered.
