WEAR, Tiffany Bartholemew, Tuesday 9:36 a.m., updated 9:40 a.m., citing U.S. Attorney John P. Heekin, Northern District of Florida: Vontavius Jamaal Bradley, 23, of Pensacola, was sentenced to 3.5 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to conspiracy to commit bank fraud, use of a false passport, and aggravated identity theft. He was ordered to pay $18,264 in restitution to financial-institution and identity-theft victims. That is the paper. A plea is a conviction on those counts. It is not two years’ probation.
Same USAO-NDFL account via WEAR: Bradley conspired with Elizabeth Ann Rogers, Donny Bernard Ross, and others to open accounts at banks and credit unions in the Pensacola area using stolen identities, then cash stolen, altered, or counterfeit checks. Court records: he obtained and provided fraudulent identification, including false U.S. passport cards, and fraudulent checks; the co-defendants split the proceeds. They used personal identifying information of real people without authorization. Rogers and Ross have pleaded guilty to the same charges and are awaiting sentencing before U.S. District Judge M. Casey Rodgers. The case was a joint investigation by the State Department’s Diplomatic Security Service, Homeland Security Investigations, the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, and TIGTA.
