He priced the midterm at breakfast. He timed the war at the same table.
Reuters, Sept. 10: President Donald Trump told reporters Wednesday he expects the war with Iran to end after the November U.S. midterm elections. Quote: “I think war is going to end immediately after the election because they can’t hold out any longer. They’re desperate to try and affect the election.” Reuters notes he has previously set deadlines for the war to end. This is another one.
The vote is Nov. 3. That is 55 days. Control of the House and Senate is the same condition he put on the $5,000 “Trump dividend” last night. One speech, two if-thens. Neither is a statute. Neither is a ceasefire.
At the Dallas convention Wednesday he also said the U.S. may hit Pickaxe Mountain — a fortified site with two buried tunnel complexes near damaged Natanz. That is a threat on a stage, not a strike report. We will not invent tonight’s Vance-then-Trump close at 9–10 p.m. ET. C-SPAN has Day 2 live from 3 p.m. ET. Dallas Express: a daytime stop at the National Medal of Honor Museum in Arlington before he returns to American Airlines Center.
What this means for you
If you vote in November, he just tied the war’s end date to your ballot. If you needed a deal, there is still no text. If you needed $5,000, that is still a microphone.
Bottom line: After Nov. 3, he says. Not a treaty. Not tonight’s speech. We will type the speech when he gives it.
