The kill claim is a different file. This is Tuesday’s unused chokepoint tape.
The National, Jennifer Gnana, Tuesday, updated 2:37 p.m., citing preliminary Kpler: Saudi shipments through the Strait of Hormuz jumped to 2.58 million barrels a day in September from about one million in August, 43% of the strait’s oil traffic. Flows through Bab Al Mandeb more than halved to 2.56 million bpd from 5.45 million in August. Combined volumes from all exporters through Hormuz, Bab Al Mandeb, and the Suez Canal fell to 9.99 million bpd in September from 12.17 million in August, 61% below February and close to May’s wartime low of 9.95 million. Saudi Arabia accounted for about 3.7 million of the September total. Kpler excludes tankers crossing with transponders off. A data print is not a wreck we photographed.
Same National file: after February’s shutdown of Hormuz, Riyadh had turned to the East-West pipeline and Yanbu, with Saudi Bab Al Mandeb flows reaching 3.99 million bpd in June. The July 20 Houthi blockade and the September 10 drone hit on the pipeline cut that path; Yanbu loadings have resumed but remain below pre-attack levels. Excluding Saudi Arabia, Hormuz flows fell 29% to 3.44 million. Iran shipped 100,000 bpd under the U.S. naval blockade, from 2.5 million in February. Total Hormuz flows remain less than a third of February’s 20.64 million. Trump on September 26 rejected Iran’s offer to reopen Hormuz in seven days, saying Tehran wanted access “because they’re losing so badly.” A rejection is not a reopen we have. Tonight’s unused Taiz 50-plus claim is a different file. Midday’s 28 vs 16 already ran. Morning’s 356 already ran. We will not smash the tape into the claim.
What this means for you
If you needed tonight’s unused battlefield claim, it is the Taiz file. If you needed tonight’s unused Red Sea numbers, they are 2.58 through Hormuz and 2.56 through Bab, not a 7-day reopen. Not investment advice.
Bottom line: 2.58 million. Bab halved to 2.56. 61% below February. Not 50 claimed. Not a reopen.
