The league moved the furniture. Wednesday is Week 1.
New England at Seattle, Sept. 9, 8:20 p.m. ET, Lumen Field. NBC, Peacock, Telemundo. Kickoff special at 7. That is the 2026 NFL Kickoff β a Super Bowl LX rematch, first Week 1 rematch since Denver hosted Carolina in 2016. Patriots say it is their first Wednesday game ever. The league last opened on a Wednesday in 2012 because of a convention.
Drake Maye on the road. Sam Darnold and the defending champs at home. We are not filling in a line or a spread. We are not inventing inactives from a color-coded practice report. The game is the sentence.
Thursday, Sept. 10: 49ers at Rams in Melbourne, Netflix, 8:35 p.m. ET. Shanahan already told you the roster is short a piece. That is the second night. Wednesday is the first.
If you need a radio, Boston has 98.5. Seattle has 710. Westwood One has the country. If you need a person more than a game, 988.
What this means for you
If you watch the kickoff, it is 8:20, not Sunday. If you thought the league only does Thursdays, they found a Wednesday. If you wanted a score, wait until the clock hits zero.
Bottom line: rematch in Seattle. 8:20. NBC. No score until there is one.
