The $100 handle survived the New York morning. The averages did not celebrate.
Yahoo Finance, 12:59 p.m. ET: Dow Jones 52,458.16, down 327.91, −0.62%. S&P 500 7,640.69, down 32.83, −0.43%. Nasdaq Composite 26,262.73, down 158.68, −0.60%. Tuesday’s cash close was Dow 52,787.53, S&P 7,673.65, Nasdaq 26,421.41. This is the next session eating the war premium, not a reprint of 4 p.m.
Brent $100.56, up $2.64, +2.70%. WTI $95.68, up $2.65, +2.85%. Energy sleeve XLE +0.60%. That is the CENTCOM-and-Hormuz bid still in the pit after Brent tagged $100 in Europe overnight.
Magnificent Seven is a split, not a slogan: Alphabet −2.43%, Amazon −1.99%, Apple −0.69%, Nvidia −0.75%, Microsoft −0.13%. Meta +6.04% to $650.54 is the green exception on this print — we are not inventing the press release from a ticker. Tesla is barely green. Chips that ripped Tuesday are still working: Intel +0.87% to $105.38, Qualcomm +1.23%. Healthcare is quiet after Tuesday’s Amgen hole: XLV −0.31%, Amgen −0.51%.
10-year yield 4.843%. Bitcoin about $78,783, a small bounce under $79,000, not a regime change. Coinbase −1.01%, Strategy −1.34%. Canada’s $20 billion counter-tariffs are on the calendar as of Tuesday midnight. PPI Thursday, 8:30 ET. CPI Friday. FOMC Sept. 15–16, Chair Kevin Warsh.
What this means for you
If you hold an index, $100 oil is the midday tax. If you needed a close, the bell is 4 p.m. ET. This timestamp is 12:59. Not investment advice.
Bottom line: Dow 52,458 at 12:59. Brent $100.56. Meta green, Amazon and Google red. Thursday is PPI. Do not confuse noon with the close.
