U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, Jamie McDonald, Friday, with USPS-OIG Special Agent in Charge Matthew M. Modafferi: Pian Pian Wong-Tam, 59, of New York, a former White Plains Processing and Distribution Center clerk, and William Wong, 57, of New York, a former Millwood mail clerk, were presented before Chief U.S. Magistrate Judge Judith C. McCarthy. Prosecutors: from April 2025 to July 24, 2026, Wong-Tam took gift cards and other items from mail she was processing, then she and Wong used them in more than one state. The scheme alleged no fewer than 200 gift cards, $25 to $500 each. Two hundred is not a dollar total we will invent.
Both are charged with one count of conspiracy to steal and unlawfully possess mail, one count of unlawful possession of mail, one count of conspiracy to commit access-device fraud — each a maximum of five years — and two counts of access-device fraud, each a maximum of ten. Wong-Tam is also charged with theft of mail by a Postal Service officer or employee, maximum five. A presentation is not a verdict. Midday’s six wire-fraud counts already ran on a different name. We will not smash the two files.
What this means for you
If you needed this afternoon’s unused $105 million alleged, it still stands. If you needed tonight’s unused crime, it is two names, 200-plus cards alleged. Charges, not convictions.
Bottom line: Wong-Tam and Wong charged. 200-plus alleged. Not Lunsford. Not a verdict.
