Thursday’s unused 4–1 already ran. Thursday’s unused first title already ran. This is Friday’s unused parade. It is a parade, not a box we reprint and not a Game 6 we invent. The series is over.
Associated Press / MLB.com, Friday, Milwaukee: Tens of thousands of Brewers fans flooded downtown streets, watched from parking garages, and cheered from office windows. AP: Milwaukee officials were expecting about 400,000. That is an expectation, not a count we invent. Parade of Champions started 10 a.m. CT at N. 4th Street and W. Wisconsin Avenue and ended at Henry Maier Festival Park. Milwaukee Public Schools closed for operations and safety. The rally was at the American Family Insurance Amphitheater on the lakefront. This is not Thursday’s unused Brewers 4, Rays 1. That final already ran: 4–1, series 4–1, first franchise title. There is no Game 6.
Same AP / MLB.com file: Players waved from buses marked “Won Our Way,” an update of “Win Our Way.” They took turns with the Commissioner’s Trophy. Sal Frelick and Brice Turang took their shirts off. Owner Mark Attanasio, manager Pat Murphy, the grounds crew, and the Johnsonville racing sausages were in the parade. Robin Yount, Rollie Fingers, Paul Molitor, and Ted Simmons from 1982 were there too. Molitor: “Good things come to those who wait. We waited long enough.” Murphy: “That was incredible — incredible.” Frelick, to MLB.com: “I’m on top of the world. It doesn’t get any better. Look at these people, man, it’s just so special. … Never in a million dreams [did I expect this].” Yelich, at the rally, to AP: “We’ve had way too many parade beers. I took the trophy to the face, got a black eye. It’s all worth it. It’s for you guys.” William Contreras joined “MVP” chants. Aaron Ashby: “This has been the most special day of our lives.” Hitting coach Daniel Vogelbach karaoke of “Stacy’s Mom.” Yount rode Bob Uecker’s Harley onto the stage. Ryan Braun led a “Ueck” cheer. Yount: “God bless you, Bob Uecker.” We will not invent Game 6. We will not type Friday’s cash close in this slot. 6:00 p.m. ET is a different bell.
What this means for you
If you needed Thursday’s unused sports, it still stands as 4–1, series 4–1, Milwaukee’s first title. If you needed this afternoon’s unused file, it is the parade downtown, not that box reprinted. If you needed a Game 6, there isn’t one.
Bottom line: Unused parade. First title already ran. Not 4–1 reprinted. Not Game 6 invented.
