Khan already ran. This one is Paramount and a forehead.
NBC Los Angeles, City News Service, citing the U.S. Attorney’s Office: Elpidio Reyna, 42, of Compton, was sentenced Friday to three years — 36 months — in federal prison. U.S. District Judge Fernando L. Aenlle-Rocha. He pleaded guilty Feb. 17 to one count of assault on a federal officer by deadly or dangerous weapon resulting in bodily injury. He has been in federal custody since July 2025.
Plea facts: June 7, 2025, protest on Alondra Boulevard near a Home Depot in Paramount. Reyna lit objects in the street and threw rocks at a convoy of U.S. Customs and Border Protection vehicles. One rock shattered glass and cut an officer on the forehead. FBI: he fled to Mexico; agents took him at San Ysidro on July 23, 2025, after a negotiated surrender. He had been detained in Sinaloa.
First Assistant U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli: “Disagreeing with laws passed by Congress does not give you a right to assault federal officers.” Prosecutors wrote that calling it “sudden and emotional and fueled by alcohol” was not an adequate excuse. FBI, HSI, and U.S. Border Patrol investigated.
This is a sentence after a guilty plea. It is not a trial verdict we invented. It is not Khan. It is not Chaudhari.
What this means for you
If you needed Brooklyn Medicaid, that was morning. If you needed a charge without a plea, that was Minnesota. If the week is too heavy, 988.
Bottom line: 36 months. One rock. One forehead. The plea was February.
