Monday’s unused 6 p.m. CDT listing already ran. This is the unused speech.
Associated Press, Bill Barrow, Sophie Bates, and Jill Colvin, Monday, Corinth: President Trump spoke at Crossroads Arena. “I’m here because Cindy’s doing great, but I just got to make sure. I can’t take a chance,” he said, his voice hoarse, for Republican Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith against Democrat Scott Colom. That is a quote. It is not a poll this desk invents. AP: Hyde-Smith remains the favorite in a state he won three times by an average of nearly 20 points. A favorite is not Nov. 3. Monday morning’s unused file was doors 2:30, program 4:30, speak 6:00. We will not reprint those clocks as first-day news.
Same AP file: Colom was at the rally site. Trump then called him a “Marxist radical” and “fake” and “shameless phony who pretends to be a moderate.” Those are insults. They are not findings. Colom, a local prosecutor, said he had come to listen. “They actually deserve a senator that will listen to them, that actually cares about what they think, actually cares about what they’re going through,” he said before the president arrived. His spokesperson later posted that he had “chatted with folks in line for the Trump rally because Scott is running to represent ALL Mississippians.” A line chat is not a vote. AP: Colom would be Mississippi’s first Black senator since Reconstruction if elected. If is not Nov. 3. Mississippians have not chosen a new Democratic senator since 1947; Democrats last won a Senate race there when John Stennis won his last reelection in 1982. 1982 is not 2026. AP: Colom has outpaced Hyde-Smith in fundraising; Senate Democrats’ super PAC is a late $1.2 million. That dollar is not a result. The unused ad AP names: Hyde-Smith, a former state agriculture commissioner, saying consumers “have so many other proteins to choose from,” then Colom saying Mississippi should “pick another senator instead.” An ad is not Nov. 3.
Mississippi Today, Michael Goldberg, Monday, same arena: about 80 minutes. “You like me, I like you,” he said. “That’s just the way it is.” He could not place his last Mississippi stop, 2019 in Tupelo. “We did a rally in the north or the south, I don’t know where the hell it was.” Hyde-Smith: “The control of the Senate is at stake on Nov. 3.” “I want you to send me back to be that fighter with the president.” Those are her lines. They are not a tally. Mississippi Today: he called Colom a “Democrat communist.” Gov. Tate Reeves, Rep. Trent Kelly, and GOP chair Mike Hurst spoke first. Colom, at a press conference before the rally: “President Trump and our junior senator, they’ve been doing too much talking and not enough listening.” American Bridge said it had spent $2.1 million on the race. $2.1 million is not AP’s $1.2 million. Do not smash them. Sunday’s unused Port Huron listing and remarks already ran. We will not reprint “jihadist” as first-day news. White House pool for Tuesday: remarks listed 2:00 p.m. CDT at the Port of Corpus Christi, then 6:00 p.m. CDT at Lubbock Memorial Civic Center. Those clocks are not remarks we invent. Monday already noted Harris listed Thursday. That listing is not Thursday remarks. The House is not in session today. We will not invent a House tally. We will not invent a crowd. We will not invent Nov. 3.
What this means for you
If you needed Monday’s unused politics, it still stands as a 6 p.m. CDT listing. If you needed this morning’s unused file, he spoke. The lines are on the record. Colom was in the line. If you needed a Mississippi result, wait.
Bottom line: He spoke. ‘Can’t take a chance.’ Colom in the line. Not the 6 p.m. listing reprinted. Not Nov. 3 invented.
