U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs, Eastern District of Texas / Gilmer Mirror, Saturday: Sharifa Nicole Henderson, 34, of Kansas City, Missouri, was named in a three-count indictment returned by a federal grand jury on September 9, 2026, charging her with making interstate threatening communications. She was arrested in Kansas City on September 11 and made an initial appearance in the Western District of Texas. The office announced the case Saturday. An indictment is not evidence of guilt. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
The indictment alleges that on at least three separate dates in June 2026, Henderson sent messages through a social media messaging platform and by telephone, threatening to injure or kill members of a crime victimโs family. If convicted, she faces up to five years in federal prison on each charge. Five is a ceiling. Three counts are not three convictions. We will not invent a verdict or a sentencing date.
