Associated Press, Washington, Friday 6:23 p.m. ET: President Donald Trump has several meetings scheduled with world leaders in New York for the United Nations General Assembly next week. Mike Waltz, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, told reporters on a Friday call that Trump will participate in a “pull-aside” with acting Venezuelan President Delcy Rodríguez. AP: a pull-aside is more casual than a formal bilateral sit-down. A scheduled pull-aside is not a signed communiqué. It is not a meeting that has already happened.
Waltz also said Trump will meet Andy Burnham, the United Kingdom prime minister, and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, and will meet leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council. Those are names on a Friday call. We will not invent the agendas.
Axios, earlier: Trump wants a first meeting with Rodríguez as early as Tuesday; a senior official said “Nothing is finalized. This is up to the president.” We are using Waltz’s Friday list as the later White House-side calendar, and we are not promoting Axios’s “as early as Tuesday” into a locked hour. TASS, citing Axios: the high-level debate runs Sept. 22–26 and Sept. 28. A calendar is not a handshake. We will not invent what they will say about Maduro, oil, or sanctions.

What this means for you
If you needed a finished Venezuela pact, wait for a meeting that has occurred. If you needed Friday’s calendar, it is a pull-aside, plus Burnham, Takaichi, and the GCC.
Bottom line: Pull-aside next week. Not a bilateral. Not a handshake today. Not Sheinbaum’s deal.
