The signature posted. We will not reprint Wednesdayโs crossovers โ 58 Democrats yes, seven Republicans no โ as first-day news. The Senateโs 86โ11 was August.
Congress.gov / the enrolled act: the Iran Sanctions Act of 1996 is extended by striking 2026 and inserting 2031. The House-pass file already had the live authorities: tariffs of up to 100% on the top five purchasers of Russian oil or gas, with exceptions, plus sanctions on Putin, officials, oligarchs, and banks, and a presidential waiver if he certifies a national-interest case. Authority is not a tariff already collected on a Chinese or Indian cargo. We will not invent the first levy under the new law.
The Guardian, Friday 6:10 p.m. ET: he signed it two days after the House vote, aimed at Russiaโs oil and gas revenue and at countries that keep buying. Graham died in July. A memorial title is not a second vote. CLARITY cloture already failed 49โ50; that is a different bill. The UN $1 billion briefing is Saturdayโs other politics file.
What this means for you
If you needed 262โ159, that file exists. If you needed the law, it is signed. If you needed a 100% duty on a ship today, that has not posted.
Bottom line: Signed Friday. Law, not a roll-call reprint. 100% is authority. Not a collected tariff.
