KCRA via CNN Newsource, Saturday 3:53 a.m. ET / ESPN: the FBI said it has made contact with 35 more women who may have been victims in a romance-and-investment scheme in which Daejon Labrayae Love, 35, allegedly posed as a San Francisco 49ers player. Portland FBI Special Agent in Charge Douglas Olson: the bureau is working to verify those 35. ESPN: that would bring the alleged-victim total above 60 if they check out. Potential is not confirmed. The 49ers, ESPN: a team source said the club was not aware of Love before the FBI called in August.
U.S. Attorneyโs Office, District of Oregon, criminal complaint: Love and Taylor Jamie Chan, 18, charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and wire fraud. The scheme, the complaint says, ran from February 2022 to August 24, 2026, the day both were arrested at Boise Airport. About $1.3 million from 26 known victims in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and California. Love allegedly used dating apps and social media, posed as a 49ers player or a wealthy Swiss real-estate investor, and showed fake account screenshots. Chan allegedly posed as his financial adviser. Investigators: Love was in Idaho to meet new victims. KCRA: if convicted, each count stack can reach 40 years. That is a ceiling, not a sentence. Both remain in federal custody in Idaho. Presumed innocent.
Olson: victims were โtrusting, responsible people who believed they were building genuine relationships and legitimate financial futures.โ He asked the public to stop blaming them. The FBI tip line is 1-800-CALL-FBI / tips.fbi.gov. A tip is not a 27th name on this page.
