The midday crime is not Skid Row. It is a Minnesota voter certificate.
Justice Department, Sept. 10: a federal grand jury in the District of Minnesota charged Mukeshkumar Somabhai Chaudhari, an Indian national, with two counts: false information in voting and making a false claim of citizenship in order to register to vote or vote. The indictment says that on or about Nov. 5, 2024, he signed Minnesota’s voter signature certificate, swearing he was a U.S. citizen, and that he was not. Assistant Attorney General Harmeet K. Dhillon, Civil Rights Division: the department will hold accountable those who knowingly make false claims of citizenship in order to vote.
If convicted, five years in prison on each count. A judge would still have to sentence under the guidelines. HSI is investigating, with help from the Fillmore County Sheriff’s Office. Trial attorneys Flavio Abreu and William Rubens. DOJ’s own line: “An indictment is merely an allegation. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.”
This is not this morning’s Brass / Price / Herron petition case. It is not last night’s Conti sentence. One name. One election date. No jury yet.
What this means for you
If you are a citizen and you voted, this file is not about you. If you needed a stolen-election number, wait — this is one indictment. If you needed a conviction, look at Conti, not this page.
Bottom line: Two counts. Nov. 5, 2024. Five years each if convicted. Not a verdict.
