Reuters could not immediately verify the Times report. CENTCOM referred questions to the White House. The White House did not immediately respond to an email. A newspaper account is not a sortie. Four sources told Reuters that Rashid al-Alimi, the Riyadh-based president of Yemenโs Saudi-backed, internationally recognised government, asked Trump by phone on Sunday for U.S. military help. Two of those sources โ one Yemeni, one Western โ said Trump made no direct pledge of support on the call. A request is not a promise. A no-pledge is not a treaty.
Reuters: Washington has so far rebuffed repeated pleas from MbS to join the fight in Yemen. The United States bombed the Houthis for two months in early 2025, then Trump called off those strikes after a ceasefire and has stayed out of the Yemen fight since.
