Five ships already ran. Bukhaiti already ran. Thursday’s Kahbub recapture — one unnamed official — already ran. This is Monday’s unused push.
Reuters, Riyadh/Dubai, Monday, Sept. 21: five Yemeni military sources said the Houthis are now seeking strategic heights known as the Kahboub Mountains in Taiz and Lahij, which separate the Red Sea coast from the government-held south. Fighting has centred on the outskirts of remote mountain Al-Wazi'iyah district in Taiz, and Ras al-Ara along the Indian Ocean coast between Bab el-Mandeb and Aden, the sources said. A source count is not a pin. We will not type a recapture we do not have.
Mohammed Al-Qadhi, Yemeni journalist and analyst, to Reuters: government forces appear largely defensive after losing the Bab el-Mandeb area; the Houthis are trying to keep momentum despite intensive air strikes. Those mountains, he said, could decide whether the Houthis consolidate recent gains or the government keeps ground for a counteroffensive. An analyst is not a front line.
United Nations, via Reuters: nearly 700 people killed and thousands injured in the flare-up. Nearly 130,000 Yemenis have fled homes inside Yemen; more than 3,000 fled by boat across the Red Sea to Africa. 700 is not Thursday’s several. 130,000 is not 5 ships. The Houthis say Saudi Arabia has launched hundreds of strikes in recent days on highland positions. That is their claim.
Morning’s Kpler five already ran. Sunday’s U.S. vessels not targets quote already ran. Saturday’s Riyadh intercept already ran. We will not reprint the island seizure as first-day news. Hanish is still unverified here.
What this means for you
If you ship, five laden Saudi-product exits still stand from 8 a.m. If you needed Monday’s unused ground, it is Kahboub pushed, not recaptured, and 700 on the UN line. If the map sits too heavy, 988. Not investment advice.
Bottom line: Kahboub push, Monday. 700. 130,000. Not five ships. Not Thursday’s recapture.
