56 months already ran. 22 months already ran. This is Thursday’s unused Minnesota paper.
FOX 9, Kilat Fitzgerald, Oct. 1, 2:58 p.m. CDT; Pioneer Press via ArcaMax: United States District Judge Nancy Brasel sentenced Abdi Nur Salah, 38, of St. Paul, Thursday to 33 months in federal prison and two years of supervised release after he pleaded guilty Jan. 28, 2025, to wire fraud. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Minnesota: he is the 31st defendant sentenced of about 80 charged in the Feeding Our Future child-nutrition scheme. Prosecutors: from November 2020 to November 2021, co-conspirators fraudulently claimed nearly five million meals at Stigma-Free International sites; Feeding Our Future paid out more than $10 million in reimbursements. Salah received about $1,660,000. Pioneer Press: he was ordered to forfeit $1,063,255, plus a south Minneapolis house and a former bar in Brooklyn Park. That is the paper. A plea is a conviction on that count. It is not $270,793.
Same FOX 9 / USAO-Minnesota account: after the Minnesota Department of Education stopped approving restaurant sites, Salah acquired Stigma-Free International, then transferred ownership; sites opened in Willmar, Mankato, St. Cloud, Waite Park, and St. Paul. FBI Minneapolis Acting Special Agent in Charge Benni Jonsson: “In defrauding the Federal Child Nutrition Program of more than $1.6 million, what this defendant bought himself is a federal prison sentence.” Defense attorney Brian Toder had asked for home detention and called him a minimal participant; FOX 9: the judge put weight on his time as a government employee. Midday’s unused Frison, 56 months, already ran. Morning’s unused Norman, 22 months, already ran. We will not reprint either as first-day news.
What this means for you
If you needed this afternoon’s unused St. Louis tax paper, it still stands as 56 months. If you needed tonight’s unused crime, it is Salah, 38, 33 months, and $1.6 million, not $270,793 we already filed.
Bottom line: Salah 38. 33 months. $1.6 million. Not Frison. Not 56 months.
