Sunday’s unused 3 p.m. listing already ran. This is the unused speech.
Associated Press, Mike Catalini and Mike Householder, Sunday, Port Huron, via PBS NewsHour 5:50 p.m. ET: President Trump spoke at McMorran Place Sports and Entertainment Center. “Over the past three weeks, I’ve traveled all over the country. But I’m here today in Michigan for a very important reason,” he said. “I’m here to keep a jihadist Muslim Brotherhood member from becoming a United States senator.” That is a quote. It is not a finding. AP: El-Sayed, a former public health official, has repeatedly said he is loyal to the U.S. and disavowed the Muslim Brotherhood. AP: he would be the first Muslim senator if elected. If is not Nov. 3. Sunday morning’s unused file was doors 11:30 and remarks 3:00. We will not reprint those clocks as first-day news.
Same AP file: he invoked Sept. 11, 2001, and United Flight 93. “Twenty-five years later, Michigan needs to stand up and fight, just like Todd did, to stop a jihadist from walking into the Capitol,” he said, naming Todd Beamer, a Michigan native who died on that flight. AP: he then invited Beamer’s parents onto the stage. A tribute is not a Senate result. AP: the Nov. 3 race is Rogers against El-Sayed for the seat of retiring Democrat Gary Peters. GOP has not won a Michigan Senate race in more than three decades. Rogers lost to Elissa Slotkin in 2024. 2024 is not 2026. AP: El-Sayed had taunted him to come: “Donald, if you’re watching, don’t wuss out, man.” He came. A visit is not a vote.
Michigan Advance, Ben Solis, Sunday, same arena: Rogers is “as American as apple pie. He’s like perfect.” “This guy, he’s like Central Casting.” On El-Sayed: “If Abdul and the Democrats win, they will open the floodgates and invite hoards of jihadists to our shores… We’re not going to let this guy become a senator of the United States.” He told Jewish voters “any Jewish person that supports this guy should be ashamed of themselves” and claimed “I’m polling 99% in Israel.” That is his claim. It is not a poll this desk invents. On Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, running for governor: “Will you please watch it, fellas? Especially with Benson… Benson was a disaster. She cheated more, in my opinion, than anybody else… You’ve got to watch all those Detroit votes.” He called her “a thief.” A claim about 2020 is not a 2020 finding and not Nov. 3. On John James: “You’ve got a very good man… he’s going to be really, I think, a fantastic governor.” Advance: Rogers, on stage before Trump, tied El-Sayed to the Brotherhood; AP quotes Rogers: “The Muslim Brotherhood celebrated exactly one victory in the United States in the primary this year. Abdul El-Sayed’s.” An allegation is not a conviction. El-Sayed already called the loyalty question “shameful.” Saturday’s unused Obama Cass Tech already ran. We will not reprint “We have seen this movie before” as first-day news. We will not invent a crowd. We will not invent Nov. 3. Cash is dark. Yahoo still had no Sunday 6:00 equity-future bar. We will not type Friday’s 52,215 as a Sunday close, and we will not type YM as the Dow.
What this means for you
If you needed this morning’s unused politics, it still stands as a 3 p.m. listing. If you needed this evening’s unused file, he spoke. The lines are on the record. The affiliation is still denied. If you needed a Michigan result, wait.
Bottom line: He spoke. ‘Jihadist’ line. Denied. Not the 3 p.m. listing reprinted. Not Nov. 3 invented.
