Kauaʻi Island Utility Cooperative, in a Sunday 12:05 a.m. note published by The Garden Island: about 1,200 additional customers restored Friday and Saturday. Saturday afternoon: about 76% of members on, compared with 73% Friday. Outages remain on the North Shore and in parts of Lihuʻe, Kalaheo, Koloa, Kekaha, and Kokeʻe.
County recovery update: about 8,400 members still out. Peak was about 33,000. 13 of 15 transmission lines up. KIUC: roughly 250 people in the field after about 100 more from Hawaiian Electric, Southern California Edison, and HMS Construction. Port Allen and Kapaia generation back to pre-storm status. Tesla and AES Lawaʻi solar-plus-storage available.
David Bissell: north-shore transmission is the first step; restorations may begin early next week once distribution is safe to energize. Saturday’s “late next week” line is not erased — this is a maybe, not a street-by-street clock. No full north-shore ETA. 808-246-4300 for contact updates. 211 for help.
This is the one weather file. Do not make Knowledge a third storm explainer.
What this means for you
If you are on the north shore, 76% is not your circuit. If you needed 73%, that was yesterday. If the week is too heavy, 988.
Bottom line: 76%. 1,200 more. About 8,400 still out. Early next week is a maybe.
