Kauaʻi Island Utility Cooperative, Sept. 15 restoration update: crews restored about 300 additional customers over 24 hours. Roughly 83% of KIUC members are back on. Pocket outages remain in portions of most communities between Moloaa and Waimea. Four troubleshooters — two east, two west — are working smaller outages, most 20 meters or fewer, and still taking new calls from the emergency operations center. Kōkeʻe remains without power. No restoration timeline for that area.
North Shore: KIUC and HECO kept repairing lines Tuesday to prepare for initial restorations that could happen Tuesday evening or Wednesday in portions of Princeville and possibly Hanalei. After that, Moloaa-to-Hanalei could take several days. Wainiha and Hāʻena are the last phase. Restoration not expected until late next week at the earliest, KIUC said, because of transmission damage. Those sentences are estimates. They are not a map of lights. Star-Advertiser, citing the co-op: about 6,488 members still out.
