Kauaʻi Island Utility Cooperative / The Garden Island, Thursday 12:05 a.m.: KIUC, Premium Construction, and Hawaiian Electric restored most members in Princeville and some in Hanalei. About 3,200 members were re-energized in that operation, bringing the island to more than 91% restoration. KITV: KIUC reported the 3,200 around 11 p.m. Tuesday. 83% is retired. 6,488 still out is retired.
Remaining, KIUC rough recap: about 3,100 still out. Moloaa to Hanalei: 2,000. Wainiha and Hāʻena: 500. Kōkeʻe: 100, no timeline. Scattered pockets Anahola to Kekaha: 500. Crews kept energizing Wednesday between Moloaa and Hanalei; the co-op would not name specific streets or clocks. Helicopter work is planned later this week on transmission that feeds Wainiha and Hāʻena. Earliest estimated restoration there: end of next week. That is later than “late next week at the earliest.” It is still an estimate.
Downed lines: assume live. 808-246-4300, or 911 if imminent danger. Generators outdoors, 20 feet from the house. Cleanup and other needs: 211. KIUC has suspended routine service orders to keep the restoration clock.
What this means for you
If you needed 83%, that file exists. If you needed Hāʻena on, you still do not have it. If you are in Princeville, 3,200 is the co-op’s add, not every meter. 211.
Bottom line: More than 91%. 3,200 in Princeville/Hanalei. About 3,100 still out. Hāʻena is end of next week at the earliest.
