Dallas raised hands. The Pentagon rang a bell.
AFP, Sept. 11: President Donald Trump spoke at the Pentagon on the 25th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001, and skipped the main New York commemoration. Quote: “Today we renew the sacred oath that we first swore in their names a quarter of a century ago. We will never, ever forget. That’s why we fight today.” “There can only be victory.” One hijacked jet hit the Pentagon — 64 on the plane, 125 in the building. He linked the post-9/11 “war on terror” to the US-Israeli war with Iran, now in its seventh month: salute the service members working “to ensure the world’s number one sponsor of terror, the Islamic Republic of Iran, will never ever have a nuclear weapon.”
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, ahead of him, per The Hill: the U.S. remains “vigilant.” “We’re still sending terrorists where they belong — to hell — and tankers to the bottom of the ocean, where they belong.” He repeated that Iran will never have a nuclear weapon. Vice President JD Vance was at Ground Zero with the living former presidents. Trump also hit domestic “fanatics,” a day after Dallas.
He already said this week the war ends after the midterms. That is still not a ceasefire. Nov. 3 is still the date.
What this means for you
If you came for the names, they were read at the Pentagon. If you came for Hormuz, a speech is not a transit count. If the day is too heavy, 988.
Bottom line: He named Iran on 9/11. Hegseth named tankers. Neither one is a deal.
