We told you 9 p.m. We would not type it. Here it is.
UPI, Sept. 11: President Donald Trump closed the first GOP midterm convention at American Airlines Center by having the room raise their right hands and repeat after him. The line UPI printed: “I pledge to the greatest president in the history of the united states that loves us so much that he can't even breathe that I will go out with my family, my friends, I'll do it anyway, I don't care if I'm registered or not I'm going to try and cheat like hell like they do.” Then: vote November 3 or before. He again asked them to “pretend I'm on the ticket.” He doubled down on the $5,000 “Trump dividend” if the GOP keeps both chambers. Still no pay date. Still no bill.
Vice President JD Vance, earlier: Democrats are “the party of crazies.” He said the country is a “national birthright.” He asked people who disagree on a policy not to “give the country over to a bunch of crazy people.” GPB: he did not mention the $5,000 checks. Trump did, after him.
Reuters / Fox, The Ingraham Angle, Thursday: “I don't believe in the word 'regret.’” On whether he would take the Iran war back: “If I had it do again, I would do exactly as I did.” “It ends right after the election.” That is the same calendar we filed at 1 p.m. It is still not a ceasefire.
55 days to Nov. 3. A raised hand in Dallas is not a ballot.
What this means for you
If you vote, the date is November 3. If you heard $5,000 twice, you heard a microphone twice. If you needed a regret, he said he does not use the word.
Bottom line: The speech happened. The pledge is a quote. The check is still not in the mail.
