Monday’s effective control already ran. This is Friday’s unused envoy line.
Anadolu Agency, Serdar Dincel, Friday: Saudi Ambassador to Yemen Mohammed Al Jaber said the Bab el-Mandeb Strait has been “cleared” of the Houthi group. On X: “Blessed Friday, and victory for every Yemeni and Arab. Bab al-Mandeb has been cleared of the remnants of the Houthi terrorist militia.” Anadolu: he did so without providing further details. The Houthis did not immediately comment. A Friday greeting is not a map. Cleared in a post is not a pin this desk verified.
Same Anadolu file: government forces launched Operation Dawn of Yemen this week after the Houthis advanced as far as Mayyun Island in September. Monday already filed Moammar al-Eryani telling Reuters of “effective control,” a seized Dhubab airstrip, and another government source saying fighting continued at a military base. We will not reprint that Monday quote as first-day news. Al Jaber’s cleared is not Eryani’s effective control reprinted, and it is not Sanaa fallen.
What this means for you
If you needed Monday’s unused international, it still stands as a minister’s claim with fighting still reported. If you needed this morning’s unused sentence, it is Al Jaber, Friday, ‘cleared,’ no details. If you needed independently verified control of the strait, wait.
Bottom line: ‘Cleared,’ the envoy wrote. No details. Houthis silent here. Not Eryani reprinted. Not verified.
