Reuters, Sept. 12: Kyrylo Budanov, President Volodymyr Zelenskiy’s chief of staff, was quoted by Ukrainian media on the sidelines of a Kyiv conference: Ukraine is preparing for three-sided talks with Russia and the United States. Quote: “We are getting ready. In October.”
U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner had just visited Moscow and Kyiv — first Moscow trip since February, first visit to the Ukrainian capital. The last three-sided meeting was Geneva in February. Diplomacy stalled while Washington focused on Iran. Witkoff said both capitals welcomed momentum. Zelenskiy called their ideas “very decent, worthwhile” and named possible hosts: Turkey, the UAE, Switzerland, or others. No date. No hall.
Dmitry Peskov: Moscow does not rule out a resumption, but it is too early to say when and where. Reuters: the remaining Ukrainian-held territory in eastern Donbas is still a core gap. Reporting by Ron Popeski.
