Morning’s ‘cleared’ already ran. This is Friday’s unused island and camp claim.
Yemen Online, Aden, citing dpa, Friday: a Yemeni government military source said Saudi-backed forces had seized control of the Bab el-Mandeb Strait and Mayyun Island in an operation launched at dawn Friday. The source told the German press agency that the Giants Brigades and Homeland Shield captured al-Ardi camp and Coast Guard observation posts, plus the mountain range around the strait, and claimed full control of Mayyun. The same source said operations produced “a large number” of Houthi casualties without a confirmed count, and that clashes are still ongoing. A dawn claim is not a pin this desk verified. No count is not a body count we type.
AFP, Friday: a government military source confirmed a “major operation” in the strait region, supported by Saudi air power, and added that “fighting is fierce and advances are limited.” Houthi-affiliated Saba said an attack by government forces south of the strait had been repelled. Fierce and limited is not complete control. A Saba “repelled” is not a hold confirmed either. Al Arabiya, citing military sources: government forces had taken complete control of Bab al-Mandeb and Perim Island, and the Southern Giants Brigades released photos and videos they said showed captured fighters in Dhubab. A video from one side is not an independent POW tally. Monday’s Dhubab claimed-and-denied already ran. We will not reprint that Monday file as first-day news.
Same morning board: Mohammed Al Jaber wrote that the strait had been “cleared.” That post already ran at 8:00 a.m. It is not this 10 a.m. unused paper. Operation Dawn of Yemen already sat on this week’s copy. This bell is Mayyun / Perim, al-Ardi, and AFP’s limited advances. It is not Sanaa fallen.
What this means for you
If you needed this morning’s unused international, it still stands as an envoy’s ‘cleared,’ no details. If you needed 10 a.m.’s unused sentence, it is Mayyun claimed, al-Ardi claimed, fighting still described as fierce. If you needed independently verified control of the strait, wait.
Bottom line: Mayyun and al-Ardi, they claimed. AFP: fierce, limited. Saba: repelled. Not Al Jaber reprinted. Not verified.
