The pit is open. The averages are not. Thursday already graded.
Reuters, Jayasree Prabhu and Tharuniya Lakshmi, Friday 6:43 a.m. ET: Dow E-minis up 62 points, or 0.12%. S&P 500 E-minis up 17.5, or 0.23%. Nasdaq 100 E-minis up 148.75, or 0.5%. Thursday’s official cash close remains Dow 51,778.04, S&P 7,637.76, Nasdaq 26,418.30. Futures are not that close. 9:30 a.m. ET is the open. 4:00 p.m. is the grade. An earlier Reuters stamp at 4:50 a.m. had the Dow E-minis +83. We are using 6:43.
Reuters, Seher Dareen, 1008 GMT: Brent $103.17, down $1.65, or 1.6%. WTI $101.30, down 61 cents, or 0.6%. Brent is on track for its first weekly loss in three, down 1.4%. Thursday evening we had oil futures −52¢ to $101.91 on MarketWatch, treated as WTI, and Anadolu Brent $104.13. $103.17 is not Tuesday’s $108.75 settle. Four Hormuz commodity ships vs 16 already have their own file. Funds are 3.75–4%, 12–0. A green premarket is not a cut. Truth Social “One percent, or less” is still a post.
Friday is triple witching — simultaneous expiry of stock, index-option, and futures contracts — which can boost volume and volatility, Reuters said. That is a calendar. It is not 4:00. Berkshire Hathaway: Warren Buffett will step down as chairman and become chairman emeritus, effective immediately. Shares were flat premarket, Reuters said. A title change is not a close.
What this means for you
If you hold an index, the grade is still 51,778 until 4:00. If you needed $108 oil, that settle is Tuesday. Not investment advice.
Bottom line: E-minis +62 at 6:43. Cash still 51,778. Brent $103.17. Not a close. Not a cut.
