DefenseScoop, Brandi Vincent, Sept. 14 / WIRED, Nathaniel Janowitz, Sept. 17: the Pentagon said Monday it issued a “targeted legal waiver” authorizing current and former service members, civilian personnel, and contractors who hold or held UAP-related national defense information to disclose it directly to official PURSUE representatives. The waiver supersedes civil and administrative enforcement in NDAs and Special Access Program Indoctrination Agreements executed in the United States — “strictly for communications directed to the PURSUE team.” Pentagon officials: it creates an authorized pipeline for review, security evaluation, and potential declassification. Potential is not posted. WIRED: the waiver text has not been made public.
WIRED: the announcement says nothing about criminal law. It does not cover talking to Congress, the press, or the public. It covers Pentagon people, not a CIA-wide hole. Contractor NDAs the government is not party to are another gap. A 2022 statute already said authorized disclosures through AARO are not NDA violations and are not a violation of the relevant Espionage Act section. A new PURSUE civil waiver is not that statute reprinted as news. Dylan Borland, the former Air Force specialist who testified last year, to WIRED: “It changes nothing” for public talk. “It's one more place to go.” A whistleblower’s quote is not a craft.
The Pentagon wrote that people with “direct knowledge of UAP-related programs” had feared liability. That is their phrasing about fear of talking. It is not a confirmation of a recovered vehicle. AARO’s March 2024 historical report already said it found no evidence the government recovered alien technology. We will not invent a crash, a body, or an AARO aliens verdict. PURSUE 6 — 71 files, 55 documents, 15 videos, 1 audio — already ran Saturday. This unused file is the waiver, not a seventh dump.
What this means for you
If you came for Friday’s box of paper, that file exists. If you came for Sunday’s unused UFO wire, it is a narrow civil path to PURSUE. It is not a press pass. It is not a saucer.
