Sunday’s blame-me already ran. Saturday’s petition already ran. This is Monday’s unused ceasefire claim.
Associated Press via NPR, Sunday: President Trump wrote that Russia and Ukraine had agreed to an “energy ceasefire” in the war, effective immediately. On Truth Social: “Both parties have agreed. Do not break it!” AP: he offered no details. Moscow did not immediately comment. A social post is not a signed truce. No details is not a map of what is off-limits.
BBC / RFE/RL: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy first told Axios the announcement was “news to me.” Then: “Ukraine is ready not to strike at Russian energy and we count on Russia’s similar readiness.” He asked for clear details of America’s dialogue with Russia. Monday, Oct. 12, by video to the Warsaw Security Forum: “If Russia wants us to stop our long-range strikes against its oil refineries and oil exports, then Russia must stop its strikes against our energy system and critical infrastructure and stop killing our people.” He added an energy cease-fire is needed “in reality, not just on Truth Social.” Two senior Ukrainian officials told RFE/RL Trump’s post was the first Kyiv had heard. Zelenskyy later said Russia hit a Kyiv power plant and energy facilities in Kharkiv after the U.S. statement. RFE/RL: it could not immediately independently verify that those strikes came after the post. We will not invent Moscow’s yes. Sept. 14 already sat on this desk as a previous “do not hit” claim with no details then either. We will not reprint Sunday’s Clarksville line or Saturday’s SCOTUS petition as first-day news.
What this means for you
If you needed Sunday’s unused politics, it still stands as blame-me if they lose, vote Nov. 3, not a result. If you needed this morning’s unused sentence, it is an energy ceasefire claimed, not detailed, not confirmed. If you needed a hold on the grid, wait.
Bottom line: Claimed. No details. Kyiv: news, then ready if Russia is. Not a truce we verified. Not Clarksville reprinted.
