22 months already ran. 18 months already ran. This is Thursday’s unused St. Louis tax paper.
KTTN, Oct. 1, 2026, citing the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Missouri: United States District Judge Joshua M. Divine sentenced Latasha L. Frison, 39, Wednesday to 56 months in federal prison and ordered her to repay $270,793. She was convicted July 1 on 16 counts of aiding and assisting in the preparation and presentation of false and fraudulent tax returns. She owned a downtown St. Louis tax-preparation business that operated under various names, including Taxed Rite. She lived in Cahokia, Illinois, when the offenses occurred and now lives in Texas. That is the paper. A conviction is a conviction on those counts. It is not $18.2 million.
Same KTTN file, citing a sentencing memorandum by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jonathan Clow: trial evidence showed Frison falsified information on 16 returns belonging to six taxpayers for tax years 2020 through 2023. Prosecutors said she created fictitious businesses and claimed tens of thousands of dollars in fraudulent Schedule C expenses, improperly claimed a COVID-19 tax credit, and fabricated fuel purchases — in one instance a full-time liquor-store cashier was claimed to have purchased 40,000 gallons of fuel in a single year. Investigators identified eight additional returns with similar false information; another 37 returns were audited civilly and found to contain false information. Clow: she received at least $240,000 in tax-preparation fees over four years and spent more than $145,000 at St. Louis-area casinos. IRS Criminal Investigation Kansas City Field Office Special Agent in Charge William Steenson said she profited by filing falsified information that produced refunds her clients were not eligible for. IRS Criminal Investigation investigated. Morning’s unused Norman, 22 months, $18.2 million, already ran. We will not reprint that restitution as first-day news.
What this means for you
If you needed this morning’s unused Longmeadow sentence, it still stands as 22 months. If you needed this afternoon’s unused crime, it is Frison, 39, 56 months, and $270,793, not $18.2 million we already filed.
Bottom line: Frison 39. 56 months. $270,793. Not Norman. Not $18.2 million.
