Department of Justice, Friday, Sept. 18, Office of Public Affairs, 26-1082: charges against 16 people for illegal voting, illegal voter registration, and related schemes. The release lists unlawful voting by non-citizens in federal elections, false claims of citizenship to register or vote, and related wire fraud, naturalization fraud, passport fraud, and unlawful firearm purchases found in the investigations. A complaint, indictment, or information is an accusation. All defendants are presumed innocent.
Northern District of Texas โ eight facing charges this week, the release says: Moises Anwar Arellano-Alba, 36, charged with a final order of removal, voting by an alien, and a false citizenship statement to register; Helen Sayen Adams, 67, LPR since May 2024; Joshua Nmelichukwu Akpom, 27, false statements in naturalization; Carlos Salas Barrios, 41; Khalwinder Singh Bhengura, 69; Celestin Katubadi, 20; Rocio Thrasher, 38. Western District of Texas: Monica Carzoli, 46, LPR, arrested this week in Del Rio; the release says she admitted registering and voting in November 2024. An admission in a press release is still an allegation until a plea or a verdict.
District of Idaho: a Boise grand jury indicted Avila Gomez for wire fraud, theft of government funds, false statement of citizenship to vote, voting by an alien, passport and ID-document fraud, a false statement on a firearm purchase, and unlawful possession of a firearm. The release: Gomez, described as an illegal alien from Mexico, allegedly claimed citizenship, voted in May 2022 and November 2024, and obtained Idaho ID cards. An indictment is not a conviction.
Northern District of Georgia โ three: Pauline Lewis, 65; Gabriel Covarrubias, 44, alleged in-person vote under a false name in November 2024 plus a false passport statement; Analiea Milliscent Eccles, 44, a DACA recipient from Venezuela, alleged to have voted nine times between 2008 and 2024. Massachusetts: Gladys Adaeze Okafor, 56, arrested, 2022 and alleged 2024 votes. Western District of Wisconsin: Julieta Englestad, 53 โ if convicted, the release says five years on illegal registering and one year on illegal voting. Those are ceilings. New Jersey: Santana Coulibaly, arrested this week; 2016 registration, 2018 and 2020 votes, a 2024 provisional ballot, and alleged false N-400 statements in December 2021 and October 2024. Eastern District of Michigan: Victoria Viktorivna Aquilina, 43, charged Friday with illegally voting in the 2024 general election.
