Midday’s naming already ran. This is Sunday’s unused clock.
TechCrunch, Anthony Ha, Sunday 8:15 a.m. PT, citing the Wall Street Journal: Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton will chair the Super Intelligence Force. FTC Chair Andrew Ferguson, Undersecretary of War for Research and Engineering Emil Michael, and OPM Director Scott Kupor serve as vice chairs. Midday already filed CBS, CNN, and POLITICO on the unused name. We will not reprint that announcement as first-day news.
Same TechCrunch file: the task force will have 120 days to create a report on the risks and opportunities presented by AI. Clayton, to the Journal: one of the biggest risks is “not being first.” The charter, the paper said, says the force will “develop plans for responding to SI-enabled threats to our society, while preventing overregulation and regulatory capture that would stifle innovation and competition.” That is a reported charter line. It is not a bill we have, and it is not Tuesday’s “morally binding” lunch reprinted. A 120-day clock is not a statute.
What this means for you
If you needed this afternoon’s unused naming, it still stands as Clayton leading a force. If you needed tonight’s unused politics, it is 120 days and a charter warning against overregulation — not a law.
Bottom line: 120 days. Charter cited. Not the naming reprinted. Not a statute.
