Perim already ran. The pipe already ran. This is the unused phone log.
Reuters, Washington, Sept. 12: Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman phoned President Donald Trump on Thursday and asked for U.S. military help fighting the Houthis, three sources said. He was told Washington would not intervene directly for now but would help with intelligence.
Trump confirmed the call Saturday. He said the Houthis had also phoned his administration and asked Washington not to become directly involved. A senior administration official would not address specifics, and said the U.S. is focused on freedom of navigation in the Red Sea โwhile empowering our regional partners to take the lead.โ Reporting by Humeyra Pamuk, Simon Lewis, and Matt Spetalnick.
Reutersโ frame: Bab el-Mandeb is about 7% of global petroleum supplies and about 12% of global trade if closed; Hormuz was about a fifth of oil before the war. Those are the agencyโs shares, not a new tanker count. Kplerโs seven ships Thursday already ran. This file is the no-troops line.
A confirmation is not a carrier group. A Houthi phone ask is not a signed halt.
What this means for you
If you needed the island, that was Friday. If you needed the pipe, that was morning. If you needed a yes or no on U.S. forces, Saturdayโs answer is intelligence for now.
Bottom line: MBS asked. Trump said intelligence, not troops. The Houthis asked him to stay out too.
