The claws are out. The score is not a 90.
ComicBook.com, 11:06 a.m. ET: Marvel’s Wolverine sits at 78/100 on Metacritic from 63 critics who had the PlayStation 5 code. Insomniac’s last Marvel outing, Spider-Man 2, was a 90. Spider-Man was 87. Miles Morales was 85. This one is the step down. It is still “generally favorable” on that scale. More reviews will land before Sept. 15.
Named copies, not a vibes roundup: Game Informer’s Matt Miller, 10:00 a.m., 8.5/10 — brutal combat, linear, not an open-world swing. VGC, 3/5 — visuals and Liam McIntyre up, combat “dated” and repetitive. Polygon, 11:00 a.m. ET, called it “the biggest disappointment of the PS5 era” and did not print a number on the review page. We will not invent IGN.
Standard edition $69.99. Deluxe $79.99. PS5 exclusive. Digital and physical. Street date Tuesday, Sept. 15. Yesterday’s Nintendo story was Meccha Chameleon at $5.99. This is the $70 slot.
What this means for you
If you have a PS5 and a pre-order, the embargo is the first look, not a refund window we can see. If you wanted a 90, this is not that. If you wanted hide-and-seek for six dollars, that shipped yesterday on Switch 2.
Bottom line: 78 from 63 critics. 8.5 from Game Informer. 3/5 from VGC. Tuesday is still Tuesday.
