WFLA, Brianna Leonard, Thursday 4:24 p.m. ET: Gov. Ron DeSantis and Attorney General James Uthmeier announced 20 people arrested in a statewide voter-fraud operation. The Office of Statewide Prosecution charged 16 people it says registered by falsely claiming U.S. citizenship, and four convicted felons it says registered and voted while still on probation. Officials: immigration-status reviews, including federal databases, flagged the registrations. FDLE pulled applications, poll-book signatures or vote-by-mail certificates, and post-election ineligibility notices. An announcement is not a jury.
Named in the WFLA list: Giorgio Dominique Mucelli, 66, Brevard, alleged to have voted in seven general elections from 2004 through 2024; James Mark Hollingsworth, 62, DeSoto, two counts of unqualified noncitizen voting and two of false swearing — up to 20 years if convicted; Donta Ta White, 44, Tampa, a felon on probation through May 24, 2032, up to 15 years if convicted. Most of the others, WFLA said, face up to 10 years if convicted. Also named: Astrid Shamatu Navarrete Quintana, 24, Lee; Selvin Uton Whilby, 74, Tampa; Kadian Gabrielle Amai Johnson, 29, Lee; Mei-Lin Johnston, 57, Okeechobee; Manon M. Raux, 62, Collier. A maximum is not a sentence. Midday’s Christiane Vinette Young, 75, was a Middle District of Florida information. Do not smash that federal three-count into this state 20.
